Auctioneer Extraordinaire David Force

David Force has brought his auctioneering expertise to Dartmoor Auctions since 2016.

David was born in 1954 and spent his childhood and teen years in Exeter. After leaving Exeter School, he worked in Bristol, Tavistock and Exeter as an estate agent and auctioneer before opening the Dawlish branch of his family estate agency, Force and Sons, in 1982. He has lived in the town centre ever since. He has been happily married to Amanda for 36 years and they have two grown-up sons, Oliver and Daniel, as well as a new grandson, Henry.

During his many years living in Dawlish, he has immersed himself in various aspects of life in the town including the Dawlish Round Table, Dawlish Warren 41 Club, the Chamber of Trade, Shaftesbury Theatre, St Gregory's Church, Dawlish Museum and the Carnival. He has helped to organise many fund-raising events around the town, raising thousands of pounds for local charities.

With a keen interest in Dawlish history and antiques, he gives regular talks to clubs and societies in the town and surrounding area. He has a varied collection of antiques and collectibles, including paintings, prints and old photographs.

David's passion for Dawlish shines through in his new book Dawlish Through the Ages - the Story of a Seaside Town, which explores the past in a light and conversational style, from the time of the earliest Saxon settlers to the present day.
